Innies vs. Outties, a UX Deathmatch

2:45 - 3:30pm on Saturday, April 10 2010 in Regency B

Is it better to work inside an organization or as an outside consultant? Let's
settle this age-old issue once and for all! Bring your wrestling tights and
hidden foreign objects if ya got 'em for this knockdown, drag 'em out brawl
where the winner takes all.

Two veteran UX pros with experience and scar tissue from both sides of the
issue will referee action that includes lecture, group discussion, and even a
little role playing.

We'll compare experiences on a number of key topics including:
- Solution ownership
- Performance management
- Passive aggression
- Product direction
- The ideal mix of innies and outties
- Working around difficult people
- Getting credit for good ideas

Participants will walk away with a deep understanding of the differences and
similarities between the working lives of "innies" and "outties." The
presentation is geared towards user experience professionals with a bulk of
their careers spent as either a staff member or a consultant. The presentation
will be especially useful for those seriously considering a switch.

And by "two veteran UX pros" I of course mean just me. We had to tweak this session a bit, but it should retain all of its original not-suckedness. Remember to bring an attitude (and for those that don't have one, borrow a friend's). This one's gonna be NOISY!
